It’s not your average product designer who has a Stanford University bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, an Art Center College of Design master’s degree in industrial design and an MBA. But Garrett Dobbs is not your average product designer. As NoiseAware’s Head of Product, Garrett leads the team responsible for the design and development of the world’s leading privacy-safe short-term-rental noise solution. So, what drives him daily, to give his all to this enterprise?
“We’re on a mission to bring our smart noise sensors and affordable noise monitoring service to short-term and vacation rentals across the globe,” Garrett says. “We’re giving people the power to know the noise level at their property anytime, anywhere.
Prior to joining NoiseAware in 2017, Garrett worked as a financial analyst and a toy designer, before launching his own design firm. But it was with NoiseAware that Garrett truly hit his professional stride, ideating and developing key features of the product that solves the #1 problem in the STR industry: noise.
When he’s not coming up with new ways to protect properties and communities, Garrett enjoys “crafting and making fun things on my 3D printer or CNC!” Also on his downtime schedule: “lots of home-improvement projects…and my guilty pleasure is video games.” If you’re looking for Garrett when he’s not picking up his cell, you’ll likely find him “off the grid, anywhere I can sleep in a tent or a hammock away from the rest of the world.” But please, don’t go tracking him down—this incredibly hardworking product visionary needs time to rest, recharge and fuel his imagination!
